Basically, an intrusion detection system (IDS) is a device or software application that monitors network or system activities for malicious activities or policy violations and produces electronic reports to a management station. Buried cable intrusion detection system is used where an embeded security platform is essential. It depends volumetric technology that detects and locates walking, running, digging, crawling intruders or the operation of machineery/vehicles along a facility’s perimeter range. A detection zone is obtained in the perimeter range of the buried sensor fiber optic cable. The sensor cable and remote sensing nodes contain no electronics and therefore are not affected by lightning, electromagnetic or radio frequency interference, and require no periodic maintenance or calibration. The system is capable to identify the violation location precisely eliminating the harmless intrusions caused by animals, environmental facts; rain, snow etc. according to the detection parameters . In case a need of different detection parameters, the perimeter can be segmented into sub-zones so that each sub-zone can be allocated its own detection parameters
